Sam Whitney was born and raised just outside of Pittsburgh, PA. In 2014, he was introduced to the world of glass and flameworking at Pittsburgh Glass Center. Shortly after, he attended Salem Community College in New Jersey to study scientific glassblowing, and has continued his education in glass through institutions such as Pittsburgh Glass Center, Penland School of Craft, and Touchstone Center for Crafts. Sam currently lives in Pittsburgh, PA working out of a home studio and teaching flameworking classes and workshops at PGC.

Ready to explore the world of borosilicate tubing? This class is designed to help familiarize you with the use of borosilicate tubing through a variety of techniques and applications including but not limited to pulling points, setting up a blow tube, blowing and shaping a bubble, sealing hollow components together, and much more. Instruction will focus more time on practicing technical exercises to strengthen your skills than completing specific projects. However, small vessels and hollow projects can be made throughout the week.  

It is preferred that you have some level of flameworking experience prior to taking this class. No prior experience working with tubing is required, but if you do have some experience with tubing, this class can be very beneficial to you.
