Caroline Landau (she/they) is a queer, multidisciplinary artist based in California. Landau’s work has focused on moldblowing to capture the texture of wood and ice made from molds on-site and in nature. Their work has been recognized in New Glass Now (2019), and shown at the Wadsworth Museum and Venice Glass Week.

The goal of this glassblowing foundations course is for every student to feel comfortable working with an assistant in any hot glass studio. You will understand how to use all the equipment in the Hot Shop, navigate all aspects of a blow slot, and to begin to work independently. Starting from gathering out of the furnace to shaping glass at the bench, we as a class will work collaboratively to execute our sketches. The class will be focusing on foundational shapes and an introduction to color applications.
