Find inspiration from famous American architect Frank Lloyd Wright's evocative stained glass windows. Students will study and apply the same design principles to create and build an original leaded stained glass work in the style of Wright's prairie windows. This class focuses on the process of lead came, a technique necessary to create windows that will withstand outdoor elements. An understanding of this technique will create the foundation for creating larger stained glass windows that can be permantly installed.
Final panel size will be limited to 11'' by 17''. Projects are designed to completed within the class time allotted. Any additional studio time required can be purchased as studio rental time. Introduction to Stained Glass or 24 hours of stained glass experience is required. Class tuition includes 1 session of open-studio time to be used during the 8-week course. This will help you become familiar with the studio itself and learn the process of studio rental beyond class hours.
