The best way to move from beginner to intermediate in a skill is by repetition, experimenting with new methods, and by making mistakes. In this new 10-week class, you won’t be making one large panel—instead, you’ll learn to design patterns and make several smaller suncatchers focusing on new techniques and experimentation.
Techniques covered will include but are not limited to working with tricky types of glass, design considerations for structural integrity, incorporating found objects, decorative soldering, wire adornment, and utilizing coldworking tools like ring saws, flat lap grinders, and dremels.
This is a fast-paced intermediate level class. Students are required to have taken Introduction to Stained Glass at PGC or have equivalent experience with instructor approval. Glass cutting basics and foiling will not be covered. Students will occasionally be expected to complete entire projects during a single class session. We ask students to be comfortable working in stained glass ahead of the first session and be prepared to take part in open studio rental if unable to complete projects during class.
Stained Glass Open Studio is available on Mondays. Introduction to Stained Glass, or 24 hours of similar class experience and instructor permission is required.
