"Color is the language I speak best." -Vera Neumann

Drue Miller is a Pittsburgh-based glass artist and jewelry designer. She teaches fusing, stained glass and mosaic workshops at PGC. She is fascinated by the interplay between light and color and loves exploring the dramatic possibilities glass offers. She is heavily influenced by mid-century designs, from genie bottles and faceted glass church windows to richly colored textiles by Marimekko and Vera. Her jewelry line "Iris Fire Glass" is named after the Greek goddess of the rainbow and incorporates vibrant, color-shifting dichroic glass.

Life’s a beach, make some glass. In this two-part workshop, explore the vast possibilities of fused glass and create your own glassy beach or underwater scene. On day one, you’ll learn to cut glass, design and create a background, and melt it in the kiln. On day two, you’ll work with a wide array of glass materials to embellish your design. Learn how to fire your designs to retain texture and shape in your scene. Choose to slump (shape) your designs over a mold or keep them as flat works of art.
