Celebrate the summer solstice at Pittsburgh Glass Center. Soak up the warmth from the sun while enjoying refreshments on the patio. Have your tarot cards read and make a spell jar/mojo bag with Arts & Crafts: Botanica & Occult Shop. Then experience a completely different kind of light and heat from our glass furnaces. Watch free glassblowing demonstrations, set intentions for the upcoming season and burn them away with the help of our hot glass artists. And of course, make your own summer-inspired glass artworks.  

Make an Engraved Sunburst Suncatcher    

Capture the beauty of the summer sun with glistening glass.  In the cold shop, use a lathe and traditional cutting and engraving techniques to cut a star or sunburst designs into glass to create a magical suncatcher. Sunburst suncatchers are beautiful in a summer window.
