Intrigued by borosilicate glass tubing? Are you looking to expand your flameworking skills? Then Tubing 101 is for you! This class begins with tubing safety, how to use a propane/oxygen torch along, a hand torch, and technical exercises. Over the course of 8 weeks you’ll learn the fundamentals of working with borosilicate tubing: how to open and close glass tubing, how to make seals by connecting 2 pieces of tubing together, and how to connect solid rods onto glass tubes. The last few weeks of class will focus on creating small vessels, basic color application, and sculpting forms such as animals or aquatic life.
Class tuition includes 2 hours of open-studio time to be used during the 8-week course period. This will help you become familiar with the studio itself and learn the process of studio rental beyond class hours. Flame 1 or equivalent 24 hours experience or instructor permission required.
Additional Class Materials Fee: This course requires a blow hose assembly kit. If students need to purchase: Kits are available for purchase on site the first day of class for $30.
